Data Mapping - Many firms desire assistance mapping data
from their old system to their new system. Expert knowledge of the CMS database is crucial
for this task along with an ability to quickly understand how your firm has used your
present system. I have assisted many firms with this task.
Data
Validation - Once a test and/or final conversion has taken place, it is crucial to
thoroughly analyses that data both to ensure integrity by CMS business
rules, and integrity
for the firm's needs. I create SQL scripts which quickly and thoroughly check your
data according to your data map. My clients have had no problems with post conversion
issues!
Reports
- Most CMS sites are using custom reports which they can depend on for their reporting
needs. Many times I am able to start from one of my templates to reduce the
time it takes to write a report. I am the fastest CMS report writer in the world! I
also bring my significant expertise of both the CMS tables and law firm accounting to
ensure that your reports will balance, be accurate and run as fast as possible.
In addition to writing reports, I
consult with many firms concerning their reports. Helping them write report specs,
identifying issues in their reports and suggesting the best approach to writing the
reports. This allows their internal report writers to more quickly write dependable
reports.

Inquiries
- Many firms roll out inquiries after they go live. It is possible to create amazing
custom inquiries to meet the needs of your firm. Many begin with my set of inquiry
templates and further customize those. In addition, I can perform advanced application
screen customizations. Being the only teacher of Advanced Script Writing, I know all the
tricks when it comes to customizations!
Bill
Formats - Using my modular bill format templates, I have written bill formats for
several dozen firms. Written in either Word Perfect or RTF format, they are concise, fast
and look great. Each set of templates is customized specifically for each firm. I
also sell templates for those wishing to customize on their own. Features specific
to my formats are: Dictated bills with subtotals, Matter Group level of detail, and
modularized parsing of the bill format code.
Implementation
Assistance - Having acted as the internal project manager for three firms for
their entire CMS project, I have in-depth experience with all aspects of the conversion
project. I have also assisted in various aspects of dozens of other conversions. Whether
you need specific training, ideas on specific problem areas, presentations to
decision-makers or hands-on assistance with some aspect of the conversion, I can probably
help!

Post-Conversion
Assistance - Many firms need extra help the first several months of being live.
Whether it be to help train users, answer questions, troubleshoot specific issues,
fine-tune the database, balance month-end, explain and analyse reports, things tend to
crop up once you are live. Having someone who knows practically every aspect of
CMSOpen is a big plus!
Maintenance
Visits - A very popular service which I pioneered is a regular "Maintenance
Visit" to assist firms in an ongoing way. A number of clients bring me in for a day
or two per month, remote clients for two to four weeks per year to assist with ongoing
reporting/inquiry needs, help with "phase two" projects, assist with upgrades,
train new personnel and generally help with any other aspect of CMS they need assistance
with.
Application
Training - Many firms fall into a rut with their use of applications. This service
looks at how your people work and suggests shortcuts in their use of the application. Many
times new features are added that you are unaware of, or shortcuts available that you have
forgotten over time. It is also possible to suggest better work-flow methods within your
firm.
